My current unit I am doing now is stories and spaces where we are using projection mapping to create a story. Just finishing up our first time presenting our work to the public, we had to learn the best way to communicate the work and the most challenging thing was having friendly content that could appeal to all ages.
Taking inspiration from Casey Neistat where he goes out of his way to find his own unique selling point. Using YouTube as an educational platform I have gained more knowledge about cameras than I have at University. Using this platform has really given me insight into self – made professionals that didn’t go to film school and are still very successful. It underlines the question if university is still relevant for the discipline I want to pursue. Learning from influences where they have their content on all platforms is really the most important thing to have.
Writing this blog has been an interesting way of self-analysing myself and looking back on the work I’ve achieved so far has allowed me to think about what I could have done differently if I had a second go at it. Knowing my mistakes now with presenting myself with an online presence will definitely help me in the future when I start building my portfolio. I have recently been looking into photojournalism and what routes people have been taking to get to that position. I feel Photographs play an important role in everyone’s life – they connect us to our past, they remind us of people, places, feelings, and stories.
Getting clients are becoming a lot harder than expected With the current scare of COVID 19 and the university going into lock-down and now presumably all other work will be closed. Finding a suitable placement and freelance work is going to be virtually impossible. This will be a great time to start making this website for my work and getting myself into a good position when hopefully it goes back to normal.
