Week 1 – Introduction

Light and Dark (short film) DOP

With my little experience so far in the media industry, I have had a lucky time getting work. From an early age, I was interested in film and studying media at school allowed me to start making short films with my friends. At 17 years old I managed to get myself onto co-editing a short documentary film, which was entered into the BFI film festival and got into the last 5 films. With such a successful response from the short film the production company wanted me to help them with the post-production for another film they made a year later, but this never got any traction. This gave me a real passion for post-production at a young age and working with a successful production house gave me valuable insight into the industry.

Doing a foundation year in London allowed me to dive into creating brands for companies and finding out what clients would be looking for. Which I think will really help me in the next unit (client and audience) where understanding what the brief asking for and how best to communicate that to the client.

With my end goal getting into photography or becoming a cinematographer for film I am constantly looking at new artists and events to keep looking at a unquie style of my own.

At the moment dividing my university work and trying to freelance not just for companies but for feature films is becoming a lot more difficult than anticipated. It has given me a better understanding of workloads though and how to properly spread to spread my time more efficiently.
